Epee & Saber Classes

Epee program

PA2FA has a robust and competitive adult (18-40) and Veteran (40+) epee program that draws epee fencers from other clubs as well as fencers from other states and countries. PA2FA epee fencers have won world championships and national tournaments and include current and former members of the U.S. Epee Veterans Team, a former member of the U.S. Senior Team and one member of the U.S. Women’s Pentathlon Team.

Our adult epee program includes, an adult introductory epee class and individual lessons. High school-age epee fencer are welcome to join our program provided that they take individual lesson, and join open epee bouting; they are also encouraged to sign-up for footwork practice.

Individualized training programs are available upon request for Cadet, Junior, Senior and Veteran fencers.

Adult Epee Class

This class is open to adults of any experience level. Join us in a relaxed environment that will instruct you in the basic techniques and tactics of epee fencing while introducing participants to electric scoring (the same system used in the Olympics).

Private Epee Lesson

These are 20-30 minute one on one sessions scheduled with one of our USFCA certified coaches. They are helpful to fencers at any level, but mandatory for any fencer looking to compete regionally and nationally.

Saber Youth Program

In January 2023, PA2FA launched its youth saber program. Unlike foil and epee where touches are scored only the point of weapon, saber is a cutting (both with edge of the blade and the back of the blade) and thrusting weapon.

Intermediate

The Saber classes meet for 90mins 1-2x per week. Classes will emphasize basic saber techniques, abilities and tactics. Fencers will focus on drilling and bouting with electrical equipment. Fencers will continue to learn the rules of the sport while including games for physical development and team building.

Fencers will have the opportunity to compete at selected local and regional competitions and may also schedule private lessons and/or attend open bouting sessions once they have demonstrated a good understanding of basic tactics and right of way to the coaching staff

Pre-requisite:

This program is for fencers who have taken our introductory and beginning classes

Friday 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Sundays 11:00am-12:30pm
